Gr 9 Up-Farrah "Digit" Higgins is a quirky math genius who wallpapers her bedroom in bumper stickers and is embarrassed by her brilliance. "There's a fine line between a gift and a disability," she believes. Farrah changes schools with the hope that she can blend in with the crowd, become an average teenager, and enjoy her senior year. However, her aspirations for a regular life are disrupted when she accidentally cracks an eco-terrorist group's code that is linked to a bomb that is set off at JFK airport in New York, and the FBI wants to use her brainpower to catch the terrorists. Soon she is faking her own kidnapping and flying across the country to find the criminals, all with the help of a sexy 21-year-old agent, John Bennett. He thinks Farrah's abilities are amazing and that she's hot, and a romance begins. As the teen hides from the terrorists who want to kill her, she comes to terms with the fact that she will always be a brain and embraces her nickname. Readers will want to know if the romance will last, and will be surprised by what happens. Teens struggling with self-identity will relate to Digit and enjoy this quick, suspenseful read.-Shannon Seglin, Patrick Henry Library, Vienna, VA
