Real Classic

May 01 2026
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

DOUBLE OR Nothing • Although they’re based in New Zealand, Team Velo’s very special Velocette singles regularly race at the Classic Manx GP. Stuart Francis has observed the evolution of their 350 and 500 dohc engines…

TESTING TIMES

OUTWARD BOUND • Adventures, autojumbles and rides on great roads: point your wheels this way!

Finding FINE FETTLE • If your old bike won't quite run right, you can rely on Paul Henshaw to endure conflagration and electrocution in his quest to make it start, stop and accelerate in between…

Make DO & MEND • Last year, Stu Thomson brought a Laverda 350 twin back to life. Now it’s time to tackle the Alpino’s bigger brother and return the 500 to the road. No mean feat, with half the motorcycle missing…

Ollie’s ODDJOBS • In which Ollie repeats himself, returns to familiar pastures and discusses life in the hen house. Or something…

PUB TALK • The Pioneer Run 2026: a hell of a ride, in a slightly too literal sense of the word…
